I was born in California in the late ’70s not too long after that, my family moved to the southern part of California… East of Los Angeles. Lots of memories of family, friends, and fun. This entry will give you some insight into the not-so-well-known parts of Southern California… East of L.A. We begin our trip in…

Day 1. Pasadena Ca: “Our whole universe was in a hot dense state” Yes boys and girls this is where the famous sitcom “The Big Bang Theory” was set. Pasadena has a very chill and laid-back atmosphere. Lots of fun places to shop and eat. My favorite dining area in all of Pasadena resides in this area: Yang Chow Restaurant! Located east of Colorado Blvd this amazing Chinese restaurant has many mouth-watering dishes to choose from however, none more scrumptious than their world-famous Slippery Shrimp! Many come from miles around to try this delicious dish (just look at the wall of fame as you walk in!) My advice is to have a nice walk around the downtown area but definitely try the shrimp! Now if you are more of traditional burgers and fries then you might want to try Slaters 50/50 Burgers by Design! Amazing burgers and fries a menu that is top of the line and a great place to chill and watch the game!

Day 2: San Dimas Ca, – Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure was where I called home for many of my formative years. Nestled in the San Gabriel Valley is a beautiful family-oriented small town suburbia. Growing up, the summers were quite amazing because we had what no other city had: Raging Waters! Where the 210 meets the 10 freeway. This was the water park of all water parks in the late ’80s and early ’90s. Dropout, Wave Cove, Thunder Rapids, etc. I could go on and on with the amount of fun this park has to offer. If you are looking for cool summer fun on a hot day this is the place to be! The Downtown area has some nice local spots to shop and eat with a bit of a western theme. When I go back, I will admit that some things have changed, but many things still stay the same.
Day 3: Ontario Ca, – This is where the other major airport is located if you don’t want to fly out of LAX. This is also the part of the valley that is tranquil in spirit but rich in history and places to go. Like, Victorica Gardens. (Located in Rancho Cucamonga Ca,) An area with a lavish promenade with plenty of shopping and restaurants to choose from. Now, off the 210 Fwy there is Anaheim which of course has Disneyland and also Angels stadium those are your more well know sports and attractions to venture off to but are very crowded and may not be in the budget. If you have a more adventurous side then I would suggest a day trip out to San Clemente and its beautiful beaches and downtown area. Well, I hope you enjoyed the glimpse into Southern California life… east of L.A. But that was a small look into the life that surrounded my upbringing in the 80′ and ’90s there is plenty more to see and do but this is where I would start!
