When it comes to celebrating your birthday what is the best way? With your family? How about with friends? Do you want peace and quiet? What about a party? Why not take a trip? Is it all of the above? As long as it’s what you want to do and it’s safe, there’s no wrong way to celebrate a birthday. This is your special day! I decided to take a long weekend trip to Zion National Park for my special day. It’s one of the most beautiful parks in the country. It is located in the southern part of Utah, just outside Nevada. The scenery at Zion National Park is the best you can hope for on a long weekend.
Day 1.
The drive to Springdale, Utah took two and a half hours. Staying at the Desert Pearl Inn is a good idea. My room overlooks a river and snow-capped mountains from the balcony, which was very nice accommodation. After getting settled, it was time to grab some supplies from the local market and then grab dinner. Since this is a tourist location, everything is expensive. The nearest Walmart is 30 minutes away. I’d suggest loading up on snacks, water, etc before going. Switchback Grill was the restaurant of choice for dinner. It was an excellent dinner and an excellent atmosphere in the restaurant. A bit pricey, but very pleasant. Just a bit of reading before bed helps me relax. Afterward, it was time to hit the hay. Zion National Park is on the agenda for tomorrow!

Day 2.
Rise and shine! A quick breakfast at Deepcreek Coffee Co. is followed by a trip to Zion National Park for a bit of sightseeing and a hike if time permits. Decided to take the short brisk and refreshing walk to Deep Creek. The food, and coffee were excellent! There is no doubt that I will return here. A quick freshen-up at the hotel was followed by a trip to the park. It wasn’t too crowded, but there were many families and tourists coming in as winter ended. There is usually an increase in crowds after President’s Day, according to staff. The Pa’rus Trail was a simple, short hike to see the landscape, plant species, and wildlife. After that, it was off for a scenic drive through the area. Along the way, there were many beautiful places to stop and admire nature. The snowfall prevented any further hikes, but it was still a beautiful relaxing day.

Day 3.
Birthday Day! On this day 45 years ago, I was introduced to the world at 8:15 AM. It’s going to be a nice relaxing day today as I enjoy my beautiful surroundings. The day started with a nice breakfast, followed by a pleasant afternoon of souvenir shopping and a delicious lunch. To round out the day, I read a little in the afternoon and then ate a fabulous Italian dinner. Mostly spent the day relaxing by the river outside my room and in the jacuzzi at the hotel, thanking the all-mighty that I made it to 45.

Day 4.
It’s time to say farewell to Zion and return to reality. The check-out time is 11:00 AM. Before leaving, I had a coffee and breakfast at Deepcreek Coffee Co. of course! The beauty and relaxation of Zion were a pleasant surprise. Unfortunately, neither time nor current weather conditions allowed us to go on the more popular trails at the park like Angels Landing, Emerald Pools Trail, The Narrows, Zion Canyon Overlook Trail, and The Watchman. Oh well, maybe next time.
it’s time to get on the road. Overall, I had a great time in Springdale, UT! This is a welcome gift for a 45-year-old guy like me! I had an easy and smooth drive back to Vegas. It would be impossible to plan a more beautiful drive back if I tried again. There is no doubt that I would like to return to Zion and experience more. Despite the short trip, the experience was quite enjoyable. This is all for now…Till my next adventure…
